Teaching Philosophy
I hope to see youth enter adulthood with the curiosity to understand the world around them, the values necessary to emphasize with other perspectives, and the competencies to adapt to changing circumstances. To support this, it is critical that teachers develop authentic relationships with their students to create an environment supportive of learning and use a variety of formative assessment strategies to inform their practice on how to best reach them. Then, having used varied and inclusive pedagogies to build knowledge, employ a balanced strategy to collect evidence of learning, giving students the opportunity to play to their strengths while supporting them as they leave their comfort zones, and achieve the personal growth necessary for rigorous learning.
